How come? How come we can see a pet, like um... a kitten or cat and be drawn to it? Within a few days we adore the thing. In under a month's time we will throw our bodies before large, thundering, metal things simply to shield it from harm. Write songs about it. Empty our wallets of enormous amounts of cash to keep it comfortable and healthy? And, we do this PROUDLY, might I add.... we brag about it to our workmates " ahha, SEVEN THOUSAND smackers to give my little LuLuBelle a whisker transplant after the next door neighbor's son ripped hers out, yaknow. What can I say *shrug* she's one of the family."

But, how come the same people (we) can't seem to muster up enough generosity of spirit towards other people to even manage to date someone for a while before developing a reason (a really really REALLY good reason) to hate them, and put vast distances between them and us?

We think we need a soulmate. But, how come we don't need a soulcat or souldog or soulhorse or soulpotbelliedpig?
